Real Prosperity

A rich man commissioned Sengay to write something auspicious for the continued prosperity of his family for generations to come.

Sengay took a very large piece of paper and wrote on it,

“Father dies, son dies, grandson dies.”

“What is the meaning of this? I asked you to write something good, something happy for our family, and you write this death stuff. You are making a joke of it!”

“Not a joke at all. Think about it. If your son dies before you do, you will grieve terribly. If your grandson should pass away before you and your son, then both of you would be heart broken.

“If your family, now and in the generations to come, follow the natural order of life that I’ve written, then that is real prosperity.”
