Calling Card

Calling Card

The great Zen master, Keichu was given a calling card that read,

“Kitagaki, the governor of Kyoto”.

The caller requested a first time audience with him.

“I have no business with such a man. Tell him to get out!”

Moments later, master Keichu was again presented with the same calling card.

This time, the words,  “the governor of Kyoto” were scratched out.

“Ah, is that Kitagaki?  I want to see him.”
